Does it? I know it's a good performance relative to it's 10w power draw but Cyberpunk is an old game now so I don't see how this can be seen as positive. Also, that there is even comparisons to the PS4 version at all is a seriously bad sign because that console is 12 years old and technologically really wasn't that great when it came out. 1.6GHZ CPU is prime example.

You’re not making an argument against Pemalite. Look up the word “precedent” to see why.

You think I don't know what precedent means? Maybe you don't know what it means. How does CP 2077 with it's current performance set a good precedent for future releases? Surely it would set a bad precedent because CP 2077 is an old game and games are only going to get demanding from here on out?

I seriously don't understand this reaction to what I wrote. Yeah, I get that I'm in the minority with my opinion but there was always going to be someone that came into this thread saying they're not impressed by CP 2077 performance. It's impressive for 10 watts but the ARM CPU that's clocked at 1.0ghz in the Switch 2 seriously needs an overclock mod. It's capable of running at much higher frequencies so it's a shame it's stuck at 1.0GHZ until someone mods it.

Are you going to respond to everyone that comes into this thread with a different opinion to yours like this? Is it even allowed to write comments without even attempting to stay on topic? I don't think it is. I think you have to write something relating to the topic of the thread and not have your comment 100% directed at someone else and have it be completely irrelevant

It falls short of the Series S in many areas, but it's an impressive showing regardless, sets a good precedent of what we can expect this generation... Which is better than the Playstation 4 in pretty much every aspect with some strengths and weaknesses when compared against Series S.

Pretty much yeah, looks like a solid improvement over last gen thanks to stuff like DLSS, more RAM, and faster I/O, and the fact it can even take the fight to Series S in some ways (even if its not as powerful overall) is cool to see.

For a mass market handheld device, it's a nice turnout; talented devs should be able to do a lot with this machine.

It would have been good if they had also included PS4 Pro... That and the Series S look to be the closest matches with the S2. It seems like it'll handily beat the standard PS4.

Also, why at points did the 40 fps mode framerate drop below the 30fps mode, how does that make any sense? Surely the quality mode will always have extra work to do over the performance mode...?

Unless it's a fully scripted sequence, rendering and CPU load varies constantly so the two clips being compared aren't like for like.

CP2077 might be old, but you will find that is still used in pretty much any review of new GPUs for still being quite demanding game.

I'd say that CP2077 is good early showcase, though Star Wars Outlaws will probably be better indicator, for its mandatory use of ray tracing.

Is star wars outlaws coming to the Switch 2? If that was announced then I completely forgot about it

It beats the Playstation 4 as it's running Phantom Liberty that the PS4 couldn't even run at all.

I would also argue that Cyberpunk should not have been released on Xbox One or Playstation 4 as it's full of frame time spikes, low fps, poor texture and asset streaming resulting in a sub-par and janky experience.

It sets a good precedent as it adopts many of the modern rendering features, but scales it down into a handheld with a very good presentation, something that the Switch 1 could never hope to achieve.

The fact it's able to approach the Series S despite having a fraction of the CPU power, fraction of the memory bandwidth and less GPU compute is a testament to the efficiency of nVidia's Tegra SoC and the port itself... And this is a day 1 release, we have an entire console generation of developers learning how to use this chip more effectively.

Nintendo may adjust or add different clockspeed profiles later on in the consoles lifecycle like they did with the OG Switch.

Yeah, launching September 4th.

SWO will be interesting to see since, if I understood correctly, it doesn't have any fallback lighting system, so when RT is turned off via editing config files, it looks like this:

It's one belonging to this new crop of games that go full RT, which is easier for developers, instead of doing fallback prebaked lighting path, or combining the two approaches (as it really should be, since current gen consoles are not powerful enough for proper RT only).

That said, from lowest to maxed settings it's some 4x performance drop, but those maxed settings are not possible on current gen consoles (PS5 and XSX apparently run at high, with RT at mid).

TECHPOWERUP has some nice comparisons, for best experience in top centre of the picture there's maximize, and then choose what you want to compare fomr left and right drop-down menu (default is Ultra+RR+RTXDI vs Low)
